Tuesday’s With Tony: Meet Tony

Tony Allen 300x218 Tuesdays With Tony: Meet Tony!

I remember my first time like it was yesterday. Filled with excitement and unaware of the wonders this new adventure would bring, I dove right in throwing caution to the wind.

Early on I learned to avoid athletes on Twitter because of their incessant self promotion. But then, Tony happened. Yes, Tony Allen joined the Twitter world and his viral stream of consciousness was birthed. Unprepared for what Tony was capable of, I began to follow his tweets. I excused his first tweets and attributed them to amateurism with a smart phone and the concept of Twitter. But things did not change, and I began to search for the meanings in Tony’s tweets.

Unfamiliar to the use of the single “)” and multiple “!”, I mulled over Tony’s tweets like Benjamin Franklin Gates and the Declaration of Independence.

Your honor, I would like to present Exhibit A:

As you can see, this is a very mild tweet from our emoticonally inept baller.

Exhibit B:

These are just a few glimpses into the wonderful world of Tony Allen.

But we have to be careful not to upset Tony. He doesn’t take kindly to people questioning his Twitter abilities…

Nonetheless, this portion of the blog will be devoted to Memphis’ “Grit n’ Grind” originator. I will be examining Tony’s tweets and looking for entertaining moments on his Twitter feed. I may even use them to create a fun story or try to connect the dots when Tony’s tweets require more than a Tom Tom or a Garmin. Also, my fellow Wise Guise writers and myself enjoy prop bets and over/under wagers. Tony’s tweets are not immune to these bets.

We might give Tony 5.5 “!’s” in the over/under on a tweet, or Clayton and Joseph could take a prop bet with me between grammatical errors in his tweets for a day vs. points scored by the Grizzlies in a game. Basically, I want you the reader and us the writers to have fun with @aa000G9 and his 140 character limit. So if you aren’t following Mr. Allen by now, what are you waiting for? He is our lighthouse on the choppy waters of athletes and Twitter.

First bet- Clayton will you take the over on 50+ !’s in a day’s worth of tweets?

Second Bet- Guesses for most punctuation marks used in a single tweet?

Readers, feel free to add input or additional prop bets for The Wise Guise writers to contemplate.

And finally, let me save you some legwork and go ahead and pull a little excerpt from Tony’s Wikipedia page:
